Global Supply Chain Management Course MGT 700 Fall 2006
The Course Design is for Demonstration only and will be up for only 5 days May 1 to May 5 2006 (all images will be deleted). The Web site is for a proposed Global Supply Chain Management MGT 700, a core course in a MBA program.
The course consists of 7 Modules for a total of 16 lessons.
Course Description
A study of the synergies pertaining to effective Global Supply Chain Management and its role its role in today's digital economy. Topics include the differences in cultures, currencies, business standards, global sources, strategic planning, and international modes of transportation
The Object of the Course
Is to provide the graduate student with a solid foundation in global supply chain management. The course uses an integrated Case-Based Learning approach where the students will collaborate in small groups online analyzing the assigned Cases and Simulations. At the completion of the course the students should be able to examine the international supply chain networks and performance in different global business contexts. Additionally the students will develop competencies in understanding the dynamics of global integration of supply chain management, forecasting & uncertainty in inventory management, global strategies, and managing logistic information systems
The Goal of the Course
Is to have the students create an online learning communities through dialectic exchanges that will result in the students to design international logistic systems by analyzing customers needs, global sources and trade, and inventory data. Additionally to enable the students to recommend international distribution locations, mode of transportation & carrier selections, 3rd party agreements, and international legal & ethical issues pertaining to global supply chain management.
The Course Syllabus provides information pertaining to each lesson readings, topics and activities. It is essential that you review the syllabus each week for adoptions and deletions.
The Course Assessment and Peer Assessment are guidelines that are focused on student learning and the performance assessment is based upon what the student can do rather on how much they know. The design of the course is to create an authentic learning environment that will allow the students to use the information, concepts, and skills through collaboration that is based upon how individuals solve problems in the workplace.
Course Blog
The Course Blog is designed for the students to reflect and publish their thoughts and understandings. The importance of the Course Blogs is that it will provide the opportunities for feedback and potential scaffolding of new ideas as we move through each of the Course Modules.
Individual Reflective Learning Journal
Individual Reflective Learning Journals. The Course Blog is to be used for the posting of the Reflective Learning Journals. Students should spend no more than 5 to 10 minutes each day recording their journal. The week before the completion of the assigned Module they are to post their reflections based upon the following questions: These suggested questions are to serve only as a guide in reflecting and feedback
- What did I learn today?
- What did I find interesting
- What did I find puzzling - unexpected problems or issues?
- What do I feel about the way I am approaching the issue, subject or topic?
- How can I improve my learning techniques?
- What do I need to know more about?
- What other resources interested or inspired me
The Reflective Learning Journal will only be access by the instructor and other students enrolled in the course. The content of the Learning Journal should be no more than three to four short paragraphs not exceeding one page.
